AFRICAN WOMEN’S INITIATIVE OF ITHACA

The African Women’s Initiative is a non-profit, cultural, and charitable organization which aims to make significant contributions to social and economic development in local and Diasporic African communities.

AWI is a supportive network for Africans in Ithaca and surrounding areas. We hope to foster a place where Africa is valued; where people gather to share their curiosity, knowledge, and understanding of African societies and act in solidarity with others, irrespective of their national identity. Our base is local, but our outreach is global.

Through partnering with local institutions and organizations, we aim to facilitate the understanding of African societies using community-building events, youth mentorship, and programs that have a positive impact on the continent and in its Diasporas.
